The dead of winter has officially arrived—time to pull out the best fleece-lined tights before you become a human popsicle. While your usual tights will provide some warmth if you’re styling a miniskirt or sequined shorts with a long wool coat, a single sheer layer can only go so far; when winds are at their coldest and the forecast is well below freezing, you need something more heavy-duty.
While we have nothing against winter leggings, fleece-lined tights often provide the illusion of transparency, making them easier to style for dressier settings. And they’re no less comfy than their athleisure counterparts, thanks to stretchy material and high-pile linings. If you’re having trouble finding the right pair among the nearly endless array of options on the market, don’t worry: Our editors have already done the work for you. These are the best fleece-lined tights we wore and tested in frigid weather, many of which made their way into our actual wardrobes—and most pairs are under $20.

How we chose the best fleece-lined tights
What we’re looking for
While we took looks, warmth, and fit into account during testing, the most important metric was price—we gave special attention to pairs that cost about the same as standard tights, since no one wants to overspend on their winter wardrobe. While truly sheer fleece leggings don’t exist, most of the pairs we selected are designed to look see-through, which we prefer for dressed-up settings. (Some of them even pretty much qualify as fleece-lined leggings.)
How we tested
We asked six Glamour staffers to style and wear their tights as they normally would, leaving them as the only layer between their legs and the air. Every tester wore their tights at least once during an especially cold period in New York City in January 2025, providing feedback on fit, comfort, warmth, and look. Meet our testers below:
